Having operated at the highest levels in sport - from winning individual bronze at the World Powerlifting Championships, to helping develop the Great Britain Powerlifting team into a dominant force on the international stage - Jon knows what it takes to succeed under pressure and in the face of adversity.

Through a series of engaging, thought provoking topics that will both inspire and challenge you to re-think what is possible, Jon shares his unique insight and perspective on life. Please find details of the topics that Jon is available to talk about below, each topic will be tailored for the audience present and the format adjusted as required.

Roof of Africa

It took two audacious attempts for Jon to summit Mt Kilimanjaro - in his wheelchair. Not just an inspirational tale of traversing paths deemed inaccessible, but a story of a team forged in the fire of adversity and uniting to break the altitude record for a wheelchair user.

Man of Steel

In 1999 Jon performed a truly remarkable feat of human endurance never before thought possible, let alone attempted when he hand-cycled the entire length of Australia. Pushing his mind and body to the absolute limit during the two thousand mile adventure, Jon succeeded where no one had before.

Rising to the Challenge

Life can change in the blink of an eye – for Jon it did when he became a Paraplegic at 18 years old. At such a time you can rise to challenges that lie ahead, or let the endless challenges consume you. Jon chose the former.

Mountains are for climbing, roads for travelling, life is for living.

Adventures

Not one to shy away from a challenge, Jon has undertaken the task of raising funds and awareness for numerous good causes - many who might not have had the resource to do so themselves. Whether it be raising money to enable the British Weightlifting team to compete at the World Championships, or helping raise awareness of disability rehabilitation in Africa, Jon has undertaken several adventures to help them achieve their goals whilst simultaneously challenging others on their perception of where the boundaries lie.

Roof of Africa

Detailing the two attempts to summit Mt Kilimanjaro and a deeper exploration of the motivations and lasting legacy of the project. Whilst initially concerned with raising funds for schools and orphanages, the team went on to help the Moshi Street Project, a group protecting vulnerable children and made visits to local hospitals.

Man Of Steel

Having climbed the highest mountain in Africa, Jon knew for the next challenge he would need to go the extra mile - so he did (1,883 times, to be precise). Detailing Jon's epic hand cycle from Darwin to Adelaide, capturing the physical and mental struggle of dealing with the extreme weather, harsh barren landscape and isolation in the uncompromising Australian outback.
